Crank it Up: Countdown to opening round!

Crank it Up

Welcome to the first edition of 'Crank it Up', the official newsletter for the 2010 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics, Melbourne.

The Cyclones dominated the medal tally at the 2010 UCI Track World Championships in March and were unstoppable at the recent Commonwealth Games in Delhi. So there is no doubt Australia will be the nation to beat when they hit Hisense Arena for the first round of the 2010-2011 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Classics from Thursday 2 December to Saturday 4 December.

But as the pain of seeing the Aussie flag flying at the top starts to dig deeper for the Brits as we edge closer to their home Olympic Games fans can expect an epic Ashes battle of the bikes to be a highlight of three days of thrills, spills and pure adrenalin pumping action.

36 national teams and 11 trade teams have so far entered with a total of more than 350 of the world's best cyclists. Full teams will be finalised and named in coming weeks.
